Dr. Paul E. Robbins
-Savannah-Dr. Paul E. Robbins, 79, passed away Tuesday at Memorial Hospital.
A native of Camden, New Jersey, he served in the Army from 1946-1947. He graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 1952 with a degree in Chemistry and received his PhD in Chemistry from Georgia Tech in 1956. Dr. Robbins worked at Dupont in Richmond, Virginia and taught at Clemson University. He was employed by Armstrong State College as a Professor of Chemistry from 1966 until his retirement in 1986 when he became Professor Emeritus. He was a member emeritus of the American Chemical Society. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Savannah, former Chairman of the Board of Deacons, and a Life Deacon.
Survivors: wife of 53 years, Gladys Cordray Robbins of Savannah; 2 sons and daughters-in-law: Paul David and Laureen Robbins of Derwood, MD and Charles Harold and Bettie Robbins of Matthews, NC; daughter: Marian Elizabeth Robbins of Atascadero, CA; brother: Leonard Robbins of Knoxville, TN and 6 grandchildren, Brian, Laura, Savannah, Melody, Max and Alicia.
Visitation will be 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, November 8, 2007 at Fox and Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, November 9, 2007 at the First Baptist Church of Savannah.
Burial will be in the Greenwich section of Bonaventure Cemetery.
Remembrances may be made to the First Baptist Church Memorial Endowment Fund, P.O. Box 9551, Savannah, GA 31412.
